LAKE POINTE MUNICIPAL UTILITY DISTRICT COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT: TRAIL CLEANUP DAY
Subject: Community Preserve Trail Cleanup Day – Volunteer Opportunity
Dear Lake Pointe Residents,
The Lake Pointe Municipal Utility District is excited to announce our upcoming community-wide trail cleanup day, providing an excellent opportunity for residents to help maintain the beauty and ecological health of our Preserve.
Event Details: Join us on Saturday, January 31st, 2026, at 9:00 AM for the community-wide trail cleanup day. The event will officially end at 11:00 AM, however, residents may choose to stay longer at their own discretion.
Meeting Location: We will meet at the Lake Pointe Clubhouse parking lot located at 11700 Sonoma Drive. Instructions will be given to volunteers at 8:00 AM and volunteers will begin the cleanup shortly thereafter, so please arrive prior to the start time. Volunteers will then be split into 2 groups - one group will enter the Preserve via the Carlsbad pedestrian trailhead and the other will enter the Preserve via the vehicle gate and lower pedestrian trailhead near the lake.
Purpose: This initiative is critical for maintaining the Preserve and fostering greater community stewardship and resident engagement within the District.
Volunteer Information: The required waiver form is on the District website (see link below). Please print, sign, and bring a waiver for each participant to the event. Limited forms will be available onsite if needed.
Link to Waiver: https://www.lakepointemud.org/_files/ugd/84a24e_f842a204f64d420b8decb76c17703951.pdf
Age Rules: For safety purposes, all minors under the age of 18 that are volunteering must be accompanied by an adult throughout the event. Adults can sign for minors on the volunteer waiver.
Supplies: The District will provide gloves, trash bags, and litter grabbers on a first come, first serve basis. Please bring your own supplies, if possible, especially work gloves.
The focus is litter removal, but volunteers may clear trail obstructions like fallen limbs or overgrown vegetation using lopping shears or small hand saws at their own risk. Chain saws and powered tools require LPMUD approval, but battery powered blowers are permitted.
Safety Reminders: Please dress appropriately for outdoor work, including wearing suitable clothing and sturdy footwear. We kindly encourage volunteers to stay on established trails as much as possible, but you are welcome to carefully step just off the trail to collect litter that may have drifted nearby—please help us keep the Preserve clean while avoiding the creation of new paths or disturbing natural areas. For everyone’s safety, minors should always use the companion or “buddy system” and must be accompanied by an adult throughout the event.
Emergency Contact: in the event of a life threatening emergency, dial 911. Please note that cell service can be sporadic within the Preserve. For any questions about the event, please email us at info@lakepointemud.org or call (512) 663-8044.
This event is scheduled as weather permits. We look forward to seeing you there!

Lake Pointe Preserve & Dock Access
Key fobs and PDK app credentials are issued by the HOA. Please contact the HOA to acquire and setup new credentials.
Lake Pointe residents may access the Preserve pedestrian trailhead and dock area via two secure gates located at the Sea Eagle View / Pleasant Panorama View cul-de-sac:
-
Vehicle Gate – For cars and golf carts accessing the pedestrian trailhead parking and lower trailhead area
-
Pedestrian Gate – For walk-in access to the Preserve
Both gates are monitored 24/7 by security cameras.
General Guidelines
-
Speed Limit: 5 mph maximum
-
Headlights: Must remain on while driving the access road
-
Right-of-Way: Vehicles traveling uphill have the right-of-way
-
Security Monitoring: All activity is recorded
Vehicle Gate Access
-
Entry Access: 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily during the Summer (6:00AM to 6:00PM off season)
-
Exit Access: Available at all times with key fob or PDK app
To enter, use your key fob or the PDK smartphone app at the pedestal located just outside the gate. The black access pad is mounted on the pedestal.
To exit during valid access hours, stop at the “Stop Here” sign. The gate will open automatically, even without a fob or app. Wait for the gate to open fully before proceeding to avoid damage.
After 9:00 PM, entry is not permitted. Exiting after 9:00 PM requires a fob or PDK app swipe at the inside pedestal near the playground.
Pedestrian Gate Access
-
Entry Access: 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily

Exit Access: Available 24/7
The pedestrian gate is located next to the vehicle gate. Use a key fob or PDK app at the illuminated yellow access pad on the gate frame.

Vehicles can exit only by using a key fob or PDK app at the interior pedestal (must stop at the exit pedestal, not the "Stop Here" sign using during valid hours)
Vehicle exit without proper access will not be possible. After-hours gate usage is monitored and may be reviewed by the Lake Pointe MUD and HOA. Misuse could result in loss of access privileges.

For emergencies, call 911

For gate access issues after hours, a contact number is posted at both entry and exit pedestals
Kayak/Paddle Board Storage Locker
The district owns and maintains a kayak/paddle board storage rack at the bottom of the Preserve pedestrian trailhead access road, located near the stairs to the dock. The district is currently revising the lottery process/system and of assigning storage spaces to residents and will communicate updates, once able.
Information For Lake Pointe Properties Adjacent to the Preserve
1) Rights & Responsibilities: Residents may maintain up to a 10-foot strip into the preserve along their property boundary for firebreak protection/brush management with approval (see 3 below for approval process). It is the homeowner's responsibility, as a steward of the Preserve, to maintain it as such and report detrimental activities to its natural resources to the Lake Pointe MUD by emailing info@lakepointemud.org with questions, concerns or observations about the maintenance of property boundaries adjacent to the Preserve.
2) Firebreak Program: The Lake Pointe MUD contracts annually with the Travis County ESD6 along with a private contractor to address sections of the Preserve regarding the maintenance of fire break zones.
3) Approval to Clear Fire Breaks: Lake Pointe MUD maintains the firebreak "boundary" of properties along the Preserve on an annual basis. Residents may elect to maintain the Fire Break Zone on their own. The Fire Break Zone is up to a 10-foot strip into the Preserve along their property as measured directly off property boundary lines for firebreak protection/brush management as stated in item 1 above. Permission to perform this work as a property owner must be requested through the management company via email: tumco1@tumco.net and then approved at a monthly MUD meeting (see Lake Pointe MUD home page for meeting schedule).
4) Violations: If violations within the Preserve areas adjacent to your home are reported (clearing without permission, removal of trees, dumping debris, etc.) and determined to be of an intentional nature, you will be subject to fines.
